AFPC Welcomes 2022 Summer Intern, William Kessler

We’re pleased to announce our 2022 Summer Intern, Will Kessler! He’s joining us remotely from New England, via Huntsville, Alabama.

He’ll be working on a variety of projects over the summer, including reviewing Alaskan community food system reports, researching food organization funding opportunities, and will assist us in getting our website and outreach tools more organized and updated. We’re stoked to have you on board William!

“My name is Will Kessler, and I am from Huntsville, Alabama. I will be a Senior at the College of the Holy Cross in the Fall majoring in political science with a minor in Russian studies. On campus, I work as a staff writer for the College’s opinion magazine and am a senator in the Student Government Association.

I first became interested in food and agriculture policy after doing a research paper about the Trans-Pacific Partnership where I discovered the topic of food security. I then discussed the topic thoroughly with last year’s intern, Alexis Berard, and gained an appreciation of the subject. I enjoy learning about the nuances and general ideas within the food policy sphere and dealing with governments as a whole, and I look forward to expanding my knowledge and understanding over the course of the summer. I am very excited to be a summer intern at the Alaska Food Policy Council as it puts me in a position to learn about Alaska’s interesting food needs and diverse populations spread across an extremely large geographic area.”
